End of Summer Break, Start of Senior Year

This summer has been filled with new places, adventures, and wonderful people. I started of my summer with about a week in St. Petersburg and Moscow. I was able to explore and learn more about the country I live in with my aunt and her friend. Being in St. Petersburg was amazing, as it is quite different from Moscow. I loved the canals, white nights, the Hermitage, the grand Catherine Palace, the picturesque town of Pushkin, and everything else. Being able to go out for dinner after 10pm, and it still have light out is something I will never forget. Going back to Moscow in a tourist mindset also made me fall in love with my home even more.
After I returned back to the United States, I filled my time with school, meeting up with friends, and even going with my mom to Northern California for one of her business trips. In July, I also had my family reunion. I always look forward to seeing my family, as I miss many get-togethers during the school year. My mom and I even cooked some Russian recipes, that we had learned here in Moscow, for one of the dinners. After the reunion, I was off to New York for three weeks of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive. There, I reunited with old friends and made new ones too. Surprisingly, I also somehow also jumped from the second level to the highest! This worked in my favour, since I had many friends in this level. The last two weeks of the intensive, I found a cute cafe called Shakespeare & Co., which was also a book store. Over the weekends, I also enjoyed going out into the city and exploring. One of the weekends, a friend and I even found our way into the National Museum of Mathematics, which we originally thought was just a knick-knack store. We ended up spending quiet a few hours puzzled over the mazes, problems, and games. In August, I flew back home, and in my last few weeks of summer, I spent time at DKCBA, yoga, and the exam center. I finished all my exams for junior year, and now I am only in senior classes. I also completed my SAT over break, and am waiting for the scores to come out. The end of summer was mostly filled with hot yoga, trying a cycling class, visiting a cute farm, a chocolate factory, watching the eclipse, and going to the movies.
September 1 was the opening ceremony for the school year. My class, third course, and the very first class were one stage, each on opposite sides. The ceremony was short, but the whole time I could not believe that I was finally in the graduating class. It is sad to think that this is my last year here at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, but I can not wait to see what this last chapter of my life here holds.

XOXO,
Louisa
